Islamabad court reserves verdict on Imran Khan’s bail pleas in six cases
A local court in Islamabad has reserved its verdict on the bail pleas filed by PTI Chairman Imran Khan in six cases. However, the court extended Bushra Bibi’s bail in a case lodged against her with the Kohsar police station till Sept 7, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
PTI chairman’s lawyer Salman Safdar appeared in the district and sessions court to represent Imran Khan in cases related to the May 9 violence and Bushra Bibi who has been nominated in another case.
Judge Muhammad Sohail conducted the proceedings on Tuesday.
During the hearing, the prosecutor told the court that the PTI chairman was a convict and was in jail.
The judge inquired of the investigation officer if the PTI chairman joined the investigation.
The IO told the court that the PTI chief did not join the investigation in some cases.
Imran Khan’s lawyer Salman Safdar told the court that there was the same charge against the PTI chairman in all six cases.
The judge remarked that the IO told the court that the PTI chairman had joined investigations only in one case and he did not take part in the investigations of 5 other cases.
Lawyer Safdar said that they had complained about the prosecution during last hearing. He said his client contacted the prosecution for joining the investigation but the prosecution did not respond.
He said that the PTI chief was currently in jail. He said his client had no criminal record till 71 years. “Imran Khan has been made target of political victimization. On daily basis, we have to come to the courts to get his bail applications approved. Police are deliberately not including the PTI chairman in the investigation,” the lawyer added.
He said that since Imran Khan was in jail, he could not appear in the court. He requested the court to issue a production order for his client.
At this juncture, Bushra Bibi entered the courtroom.
The judge ordered the spouse of Imran Khan to join the investigation.
To this, the lawyer said that Bushra Bibi was ready to take part in the investigation right now in that very courtroom.
The judge asked where the IO was. On this, he was informed that the investigation officer was not present in the court.
The court then extended Bushra Bibi’s bail till Sept 7 in a case registered against her at Kohsar police station and reserved its verdict on Imran Khan’s bail applications in six cases.
