Aurangzeb says Pak-US deal on tariffs will lead to investment in Pakistan
Finance minister says positive change witnessed in country’s economy
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said on Friday he was hopeful that after the signing of a deal between Pakistan and the USA on tariffs, people would invest their capital in Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Speaking to Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) at the US Embassy Natalie A. Baker, who called upon him in Islamabad, the minister said that Pakistan was presently implementing economic reforms. “A positive change has been witnessed in the country’s economy,” he said, and added, “Moody’s has termed the country’s rating stable.”
Aurangzeb further said that Pakistan was implementing the IMF Programme.
He thanked the United States for its continued economic support to Pakistan and recalled his recent visit to Washington, D.C., where he had constructive meetings with U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and US Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer.
Baker said that the trade agreement presented a significant opportunity for both Pakistan and the United States to expand bilateral trade.
She noted that U.S. companies were taking a keen interest in investment and entrepreneurial opportunities in Pakistan, particularly in supply chain, production, project management, energy, critical minerals, mining, and oil exploration.
