Rabab Masood under fire over double standards
Rabab Masood came under fire after her recent comments about men’s sitting etiquette sparked a debate on social media.
Appearing as a guest on a morning show, Rabab addressed what she described as a common issue among men: sitting with one leg crossed over the other in a way that points the foot toward another person.
“When men sit, no matter how educated or well-off they are, they often place one leg over the other, and their foot ends up pointing toward someone’s face,” she said. “It’s disrespectful; how can you sit like that?”
However, her comment quickly backfired when viewers noticed she was sitting in exactly the same cross-legged position during the show.
Dressed in fitted jeans and a short-length shirt, Rabab’s posture mirrored the one she had criticized, prompting a flood of comments accusing her of hypocrisy.
One viewer wrote, “Cross-leg position never looks civilized in any case.” Another remarked, “The one lecturing others on etiquette is herself sitting in a very bad posture while wearing a revealing dress.”
Some comments took aim at her outfit, with one user stating, “As women, we should dress like Muslim women. I’m not saying to wear a burqa, but at least wear loose clothes.” Others labeled her a “cheap feminist” for allegedly holding men to standards she did not follow herself.
Rabab Masood, who rose to fame in the 1990s through fashion shows, TV commercials, and Junaid Jamshed’s hit song Hum Kyun Chalain Us Raah Per, is now a regular guest on morning shows.
