Murad Saeed resigns from Senate in protest against Imran Khan's mistreatment

Senior leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Murad Saeed, on Saturday resigned from his senatorship in protest against the treatment being meted out to the jailed former prime minister Imran Khan, and sent his resignation to the party leadership.

According to Murad Saeed, the resignation has been forwarded to PTI’s caretaker chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and General Secretary Salman Akram Raja.

He demanded mass resignations from parliamentary forums, proposing that members of the Senate, National Assembly as well as the Punjab and Sindh assemblies step down as part of a wider protest movement.

Murad Saeed called for immediate medical treatment for the jailed former prime minister Imran Khan in the presence of his personal doctors and accused authorities of failing to implement orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

He stated that the youth has been blocking highways for the past 36 hours and stressed the need to strike at the roots of the current government. He alleged that members who staged peaceful sit-ins were detained inside the parliament and appealed for expanding the scope of protests across the country.
