Murree Road bypass project approved

Murree Road bypass project has been approved and expected to be completed within four months, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel Thursday

The 5.4 km long bypass will be constructed at Bara Kahu and one kilometer long flyover will be constructed at the Bara Kahu Jhagi stop. The bypass project will likely to start in front of Quaid-e-Azam University.

The bypass will start from Quaid e Azam University and culminate near Satra Meel on Murree road.

The 5.4 km bypass will have six lanes while the flyover will have four lanes. Bridges will be built on the two drains and underpasses on the link road likewise.

The project is expected to cost more than Rs7billion and its PC-1 has gotten approval by the Working Development Committee.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif directed Capital Development Authority (CDA) to expedite road construction and gave an ultimatum to complete the project in four months.

The design has gone through many changes since its first draft. The length of the project was eight kilometres and the cost was eight billion rupees in the old design whereas the cost of the project was reduced by one billion rupees and the flyover was increased in the revised design.
