Netflix star found dead at 24

A popular South Korean actress was found dead in her home on Sunday. She was forced to go into hiding after a drunk driving crash. 

According to reports, 24-year-old Kim Sae-ron was found dead in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, by a friend who had plans to meet her. The star — who made her acting debut at age 9 — rose to fame after her roles in the 2010 action movie “The Man from Nowhere” and the 2012 thriller, “The Neighbor.” She , took a step back from acting after drunkenly crashing her car into a roadside electrical transformer box in May 2022.  The crash caused public humiliation that drove her out of the limelight.

She attempted to return to acting last year, but later dropped out over health issues. Kim’s body was discovered around 4:50 p.m. local time. “We have not found any signs of foul play as of yet, but we are investigating the circumstances of the death,” police told the outlet.

Following her drunk driving collision, Kim was fined 20 million won ($13,850) and stopped taking on roles. At the time, she also stepped down from her role in the drama series “Trolley”.

Kim’s most recent release was starring in the Netflix action series “Bloodhounds” in 2023. She also won numerous awards throughout her career and was honored as “Best New Actress” at several Korean arts awards ceremonies. Police are still investigating the cause of her death.
