Shame on you! Sehar Khan calls out Rajab Butt over controversial remark
Pakistani actress Sehar Khan has joined the growing backlash against YouTuber Rajab Butt after a controversial remark he made during a TikTok Live session with fellow digital creator Zaid Ali sparked widespread criticism on social media.
Taking to her Instagram handle, Sehar shared a story featuring herself and directly addressed Rajab over the remark, expressing disappointment at the way a sensitive issue was turned into a subject of humour.
“Mein ne abhi ek video dekhi hai Rajab saab ki aur honestly, shame on you,” Sehar wrote.
The actress went on to highlight Rajab’s sizeable public following and the influence that comes with having millions of people watching and being influenced by his content.
“Allah Ta'ala ne aapko itni izzat di hai, hazaron log aapko dekhte hain, aap se influence hote hain, aur ye aap logon ki zehniyat hai? Ye aap logon ke mazak ke level hain?” she questioned.
Sehar further criticised the choice of words, stressing that popularity and success should also come with a sense of responsibility.
“Shame on you. Sahi kehte hain, paisa insaan mein shaoor nahi la sakta,” she concluded, suggesting that wealth and fame do not necessarily bring wisdom or maturity.
The actress’ reaction came after a clip from Rajab and Zaid’s TikTok Live began circulating widely online. During the livestream, Rajab made an inappropriate remark referring to child sexual abuse while commenting on Zaid’s facial expression. The comment quickly triggered condemnation from social media users, who described it as insensitive and unacceptable.
The controversy soon moved beyond the original exchange between the two digital creators, with users questioning the responsibility of influencers when discussing extremely sensitive subjects in public livestreams. Several critics argued that making jokes involving child abuse can trivialise the trauma associated with such crimes.
Sehar’s strong response has now added a prominent showbiz voice to the criticism, as she called attention to the influence that public figures have over their audiences.
Meanwhile, Rajab Butt later addressed the controversy and apologised for his remarks, describing the joke as “extremely inappropriate” and “below the belt.” He acknowledged that such a subject should never have been turned into a joke and said he understood that his words could have hurt or triggered people who had experienced trauma.
The incident has once again sparked discussion about the boundaries of humour on social media and the responsibility of high-profile content creators when their words reach millions of viewers.
