CM Naqvi orders tough crackdown on encroachers
Giving a deadline of 48 hours for the removal of encroachments, Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Syed Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday ordered the arrest as well as registration of cases against those not complying with the government orders, reported 24newsHD TV channel.
The decision was taken at a special meeting chaired by the chief minister.
Ordering that there should be a tough crackdown on encroachers, the CM directed the assistant commissioners and other concerned officials to get ready for operations in their respective areas.
“No leniency should be shown in this regard,” he said, adding, “Removal of encroachments is necessary in order to ensure smooth flow of traffic.”
He went on to say that in most of the areas, encroachments were responsible for traffic congestion.
Secretary transport, CCPO, commissioner, deputy commissioner, assistant commissioners and the police officials were in attendance.
