PSL 11 to feature two-phase format with eight teams, 44 matches

The 2026 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) is set to feature a revamped competition structure, introducing a two-phase format aimed at enhancing competitiveness and variety in the tournament, 24NewsHD TV reported on Wednesday. 

According to sources, scheduled from March 26 to May 3, 2026, PSL 11 will be held across five cities and include 44 matches over 39 days, making it one of the longest editions in the league’s history.

The expanded season will see eight teams competing, with each franchise guaranteed a minimum of 10 matches.

The tournament will begin with a single-round league phase, in which all teams face each other once. This opening stage will comprise 28 matches and determine the standings for the next phase.

The second phase, referred to as the Super Four stage, will split the eight teams into two groups of four.

Each team will play three matches in this round, totaling 12 games, which will ultimately decide which sides advance to the playoffs.

The top two teams from each group will then compete in the playoff stage, intensifying the race for the PSL 11 title.

Despite the changes, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has maintained the existing match guarantees, ensuring each team plays at least 10 games during the season.
