Infant dies after falling into open sewer in Layyah’s Choubara

A four-year-old child tragically lost his life after falling into an open sewer pit outside his home in the Choubara tehsil of Layyah, police said on Monday.

According to officials, the incident occurred in the Rafiqabad Adda area, where the child was playing outside his house when he accidentally fell into an uncovered sewage hole constructed near the residence.

Family members rushed to rescue the child and managed to pull him out of the pit, but he could not survive.

The deceased child’s father declined to pursue any legal action, stating that the pit had been dug for sewage purposes and that the tragic accident occurred due to it being left open.

Following the incident, the family filled the pit with soil to prevent any further mishaps.

Residents of the area have urged the district administration to take effective action against the presence of open sewerage pits and uncovered drains.
