The Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) profiteering has been going unabated, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.

The government has fixed the LPG price at Rs 204 per kg but the profiteering mafia is selling the commodity at Rs 260-270 per kg across the country.

Millions of rupees have been minted in 15 days.

Moreover, water is mixed in the LPG cylinder and no one has so far challenged the dirty business.

Consumers have been making a litany of complaints but the regulatory bodies and quality control authorities have turned a deaf ear to their voices.

People have made an appeal to the high-ups to look into the matter to curb the crime.

As the issue made headlines, Ogra issued a statement claiming that to ensure the sale of LPG at notified prices to the general public, the authority has already deputed its enforcement teams in major cities.

It added: "Around 20 plants have been visited so far and no abnormality has been noted. Nevertheless, if any individual /company is found involved in overcharging, Ogra will take strict action.

Ogra also decided that its enforcement teams will remain in the field during the ongoing season to ensure price-control measures."
