Fast bowler Shaheen Afridi, who is representing Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League currently underway in the UAE, has shown regret over his verbal spat with former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed.
Taking to Twitter on Thursday, he said he should have "stayed quiet in respect of him" and said the verbal spat between him and the Quetta Gladiators skipper happened in the "heat of the moment".
The spat came in the last encounter between Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators when Afridi hit the helmet of Sarfaraz with a bouncer that did not take well by the former Pakistan captain and reportedly he demanded an apology from Afridi.
Match officials and on-field umpires intervened, with Mohammad Hafeez also helping to calm down the Gladiators skipper.
Afridi not only refused and have a heated exchange with Sarfaraz but also egged on Haris Rauf to hit Sarfaraz with a bouncer as well.
"Saifi bhai is the pride of all of us. He was and will always remain a captain for me. Whatever happened in the game that day was heat of the moment. I should have stayed quiet in respect of him. I have always respected my seniors and pray and wish the best for Sarfaraz," he tweeted.
He shared the tweet with a picture of him and Sarfaraz celebrating a wicket together.
