‘Mission: Impossible 9’ faces major setback 

Tom Cruise’s highly anticipated film, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, has encountered a significant hurdle after a key cast member suffered a serious injury.

Veteran actor John Goodman, 72, sustained severe injuries to his pelvis and leg while performing a stunt. He was immediately rushed to the hospital and is currently recovering. However, this unfortunate incident is expected to cause substantial production delays, potentially costing the studio millions of dollars.

According to a source close to the production, Goodman is known for his enthusiasm for high-adrenaline stunts, but despite strict safety protocols, accidents can still happen. “John is renowned for pushing limits when it comes to action scenes, and while precautions are always in place, risk is inevitable,” the insider told Radar Online.

The source further added that beyond the actor’s well-being, this incident could have serious financial consequences, as the film is already operating on a tight schedule and massive budget.

Meanwhile, speculation continues about whether Final Reckoning will truly be the last chapter in the Mission: Impossible franchise. While the title hints at a conclusion, neither Tom Cruise nor director Christopher McQuarrie have confirmed if the series is officially ending.

Cast member Simon Pegg called the title “worthy of the movie”, while Hayley Atwell joked, “There is no final Tom Cruise. The man will live forever.” McQuarrie, meanwhile, left the door open for future installments, saying, “There’s a ton of other stuff we’re doing. If someone else makes another one, I’ll be there on opening night.”

Despite the setback, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is still slated for release on May 23, 2025. However, with production delays looming, fans will have to wait and see if the film’s timeline remains on track.
