Met Office sees no respite from intense heat for most parts of country

Extremely hot weather persisted in most parts of the country, especially in the plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Sindh on Tuesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
It was hot in Lahore early in the morning on Tuesday as the maximum temperature in the city is expected to go up to 42 degrees Celsius. The air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 141.
The weather is much hotter in the southern parts of Punjab, where the daytime temperatures are hovering around 48-50 degrees Celsius.
The maximum temperature in Multan is expected to reach 44 degrees Celsius today, while dust-raising winds have been forecast for the city later in the evening.
It was 30 degrees Celsius on the minimum side while the humidity level was also recorded at 30 per cent early in the morning.
The situation is worse in Sindh where the maximum temperatures are over 50 degrees Celsius at few places while in others these are close to 50 degrees Celsius.
It was hot and sunny in Karachi early in the morning and the weathermen said the temperature would touch the 40 degrees Celsius mark later in the day.
The humidity level in the Sindh capital was recorded at 44 per cent while the minimum temperature at 28 degrees Celsius.
Breeze was blowing from the south-westerly direction at 10 nautical miles per hour.
The Met Office has said that barring few places, there are no chances of rain in the country in next 24 hours as well.
It will remain extremely hot in the plains of Punjab, Sindh and KP.
However, the weather department has forecast strong dust-raising winds accompanied by rain in Islamabad, other parts of Potohar region, Gujranwala, Lahore divisions in Punjab, Dir, Chitral, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kohistan, Peshawar, Kurram, Waziristan, Bajaur, Khyber and Swat in KP, and light rain at few places in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
