In the latest development in liquor licence case, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday arrested former provincial director general excise and taxation department Akram Ashraf Gondal, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
It is pertinent to note that Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has already said that he had no role in issuing a liquor licence to a hotel. In a four-page reply to the anti-corruption body 12-page questionnaire, Usman Buzdar clarified his position regarding issuance of the liquor licence.
The chief minister is accused of receiving Rs50 million bribe to force the Excise and Taxation Department head to issue a liquor licence to an under-construction hotel in violation of the law.
