Punjab govt declares PEECA permanent institution

Punjab Energy Efficiency and Conservation Agency (PEECA) got legal status after the Punjab government declared it a permanent institution to save energy, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

The institution’s initiatives have saved Rs45 billion in electricity and money so far while another Rs9.56 billion expected to be saved from ongoing projects.

PEECA will work to prevent electricity waste and reduce costs.

Government departments, industrialists and experts have been included in the institution.

The government claimed to provide lower electricity bills and better facilities to the public through this initiative.

The initiative will also help in reducing environmental pollution and implementing international agreements.
