Cotton imports register 60pc jump in 9-month of current fiscal year

Cotton imports register 60 percent hike during July 2024 and March 2025. Cotton worth over $3 billion imported in first 9 months of current fiscal year while during the same last year cotton worth $1.93 billion was imported. 

Textile exports worth $13.6 billion were made from July 2024 to March 2025. The volume of textile exports in the same period last year was $12.44 billion. 

Cotton farmers are suffering losses due to imported cotton. Domestic textile industry is closing down due to imported cotton.
