The Punjab government will spend Rs110 million funds —reserved exclusively for the upgradation of three public schools of Rawalpindi — to build seven roads despite the opposition of the Education Schooling Department, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

The Communication and Works Department (C&WD) quoted Rawalpindi School Education Authority CEO who said the upgradation plan of the schools was ‘ineffective’.

The funds were supposed to be spent on the upgradation of the Primary School for boys Abbasi, Dhokay Kashmiyian and Dhokay Kala Khan.

But the budget for three schools will now be spent on the upgradation of the roads including Captain Sanaullah Road, Sadiqabad Chowk, Haji Chowk, Farooq-e-Azam Service Road and other roads.

The relevant authorities have sought permission to use the funds from the provincial cabinet standing committee for finance.

However, School Education Department officials told 24News TV channel that they have raised objections six times to the CM Secretariat on diverting the schools funds to build roads but their objections and concerns have been rejected.
