Five cops suspended for taking bribe in Lahore

Five policemen were suspended for taking bribes from the accused after threatening them to register fake cases against them and killing them in a police encounter in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

Police sources said that Batapur police arrested three persons who were later identified as Awais, Waqas, and Adeel from their home.

The sources further revealed that policemen and SHO threatened them to kill them in a police encounter if they did not give them a ransom worth Rs2 million.

Later, the policemen released the accused after taking a bribe of Rs2,50,000. When the matter came to the notice of police officials, they ordered the immediate suspension of these policemen.

The suspended policemen were later identified as Sub-Inspector Nadeem Zubair, Shehbaz, Waqar and Hanif.

It is pertinent to mention here that before this, several police officials and policemen from Shafiqabad Police Station were suspended for using their authority beyond their means.

Later, the police arrested all the policemen and started an investigation against them.
