The internet was restored in Uganda on Saturday, AFP journalists said, four days after a shutdown ordered by the government to limit communications during elections.

The internet was blocked late Tuesday, with the government claiming it was necessary to prevent the spread of "misinformation", and was restored a few hours after President Yoweri Museveni was declared winner of a seventh term as president.
