Turkish star Kaan Taşaner has been riding high and is basking in fame and glory especially in Pakistan after hit series Diriliş: Ertuğrul swept all over the country.
Kaan Taşaner, who plays Gündogdu in the global hit Resurrection: Ertugrul, said Turkey’s dramas have the potential to rival Hollywood productions.
Speaking to Haber Turk, the actor, who shot to fame with “What is Fatmagul’s Fault?” said Turkish productions have garnered massive attention abroad.
“We have Hollywood in English; I don’t know what our equivalent would be but we have the capacity to turn it into a brand.”
Taşaner also stressed that while the Turkish film industry has been successful abroad, productions must be sold in Turkish.
“It’s true that our shows can sell, but I strongly believe we must make art in our native tongue. That includes television.”
Diriliş: Ertuğrul has become Pakistan’s latest obsession with the show’s popularity increasing significantly after Prime Minister Imran Khan’s directives of airing it on state-run PTV dubbed in Urdu language.
