PM wants Ravi River Front housing project executed as soon as possible

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday chaired a meeting of the steering committee on the Ravi River Front Urban Development Project in Lahore.
Punjab Chief Secretary Jawad Rafique Malik gave the prime minister a briefing about the project. On this occasion, the prime minister directed the authorities to strictly implement the plan to save the environment and conserve water during execution of the housing project. He said the project was very important for Punjab’s economy and to meet residential needs of the people of Lahore. He said this project would create new jobs in the prevailing situation when hundreds of thousands of people have been rendered jobless due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The prime minister said the new project would help resolve the water shortage issue in Lahore. He said the government was committed to removing every hurdle coming in the way of development projects. He said the project must not affect environment and locally made material should be used there as part of government’s efforts to promote the local industry. The project aims to build an Islamabad-like modern city in Lahore. He said the project should be initiated at the earlies in line with its timeline.
Punjab Housing Minister Mahmoodur Rasheed, Finance Minister Hashim Jawanbakht, Information Minister Fayazul Hassan Chohan, Vice Chairman of Lahore Development Authority Sheikh Muhammad Imran, Adviser to Punjab CM on Finance Dr Salman Shah and Chairman of Planning and Development Hamid Yaqoob Sheikh were also present at the meeting.
Earlier, the prime minister chaired a meeting on health-related issues in Punjab. Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, Health Minister Yasmin Rashid, Information Minister Fayazul Hassan Chohan and Finance Minister Hashim Jawanbakht were also present at the meeting.
