PML-N leader and husband of party Vice-President Maryam Nawaz, Captain (retd) Safdar, survived an “egg attack” in Peshawar on Thursday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Captain Safdar was standing outside the Peshawar High Court (PHC) when an unidentified man hurled an egg at him. The PML-N leader dodged the coming egg which instead hit a party worker.

The drama did not come to end here, as the brave PML-N leader got hold of a baton and he chased the unidentified egg attacker, who also took speed and escaped from the scene in a rickshaw.

The throwing of shoes, eggs and ink on politicians has become the latest “trend” in Pakistan.

On Monday last, a PML-N worker had thrown ink and an egg on the face of Prime Minister’s spokesperson Shahbaz Gill in the premises of the Lahore High Court. When Gill entered the premises to appear before the court in a case, a man hit him with an egg.

Later, another man threw black ink on his face inside the LHC. The police have arrested the culprits, who were beaten up by the police and the PTI workers.

Earlier, PTI workers had manhandled PML-N leaders outside the National Assembly on the eve of the Assembly’s session in which Prime Minister Imran Khan took the vote of confidence in the absence of the opposition who had boycotted the session.

PML-N leaders Shahid Khaqan Abbassi, Mussadiq Malik, Marriyum Aurangzeb and others were manhandled by the PTI workers while Ahsan Iqbal was hit by a shoe.

Days earlier, on the eve of Senate elections, PML-N and PPP workers who were celebrating the Yousaf Raza Gilani’s win in Senate elections outside the parliament had manhandled PTI senator Faisal Javed and he had to run away from the scene to save himself.
