KP govt releases Rs5.5 billion funds to strengthen police against terrorism 

 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur chaired a meeting on security situation and police reforms which was attended by Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Police, Additional Chief Secretary Home, as well as senior officials of the Finance Department and Police, reported 24NewsHDTV channel. 

During the meeting, five and a half billion rupees were released immediately to meet various needs of the police. During the meeting, Rs3 billion were released for the purchase of bulletproofing of police vehicles and other modern equipment. 

The meeting decided to form special weapons and technique teams equipped with modern equipment at each district level. Rs1.3 billion were released for the security of police stations and check posts. Rs 500 million were also approved for remaining projects for construction of police stations and check posts included in the annual development program. Rs720 million were approved for night vision goggles, snipers and other equipment for police. Decision in principle to make the salaries of police officers equal to the salaries of Balochistan police officers. Decision in principle to make the salaries of police personnel equal to the salaries of Punjab police personnel. 

The salaries of police officers in Balochistan are higher than those of all other provinces, while the salaries of police personnel in Punjab are higher than those of all other provinces. 

Ali Amin Gandapur said establishing law and order is the top priority of the present provincial government. He said in view of the current law and order situation in the province, there is an urgent need to strengthen the police in every respect. 

Gandapur said KP government was spending huge resources to strengthen the police since the very beginning, adding that funds will be provided on priority basis to meet the needs of the police. The Chief Minister said “making the police capable of dealing with the current security challenges is our top priority, no compromise will be made in this regard.” 

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police is fighting terrorism with utmost bravery, Chief Minister said, adding that “We are proud of the performance of the police and the sacrifices of the police personnel.” Gandapur said the provincial government will not let the lack of resources become an obstacle in fulfilling the needs of the police.
