Awareness Session Held To Protect Children From 12 Chronic Diseases

An awareness session was organized by the health department in collaboration with GAVI in Faisalabad on Tuesday, aimed at protecting children from birth to 18 months against 12 chronic diseases.

District Health Officer (DHO) Azmat Abbas Khachi, UNICEF representative Shahnaz, Abdul Rahim Cheema, and District Coordinator for Awareness Abdul Jabbar participated in the session and provided a detailed briefing to the media representatives present.

During the meeting, it was informed that the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI program) is administering vaccinations to shield children from birth to 18 months from twelve specific diseases.

These diseases include measles, rubella, tuberculosis (TB), hepatitis B, polio, tetanus, whooping cough, diphtheria, typhoid fever, pneumonia, cholera, and diarrhea.

On this occasion, DHO Azmat Abbas Khachi emphasized that immunizations are critically important to save the lives of children.

He further stated that this particular vaccination campaign has been launched in Union Councils 181, 189, and 275, among other areas, where dedicated field teams are currently going door to door to vaccinate the children, adding that it is truly the need of the hour to fully inform parents about the significant benefits of vaccinations.

District Coordinator Abdul Jabbar also spoke on the occasion, stating that the Primary purpose of today's session was to take the media into confidence, ensuring that this vital public health message can be conveyed to as many parents as possible through the media platform.
