Rising Inflation: PDM announces nationwide protest from 20th

Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) President Fazlur Rehman has said a nationwide protest campaign against rising inflation will be started from October 20.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, he made the announcement after a PDM meeting that took up evolving political situation in the country.

“Issues such as inflation, electoral reforms, use of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), NAB (Amendment) Ordinance 2021 were discussed in today’s meeting,” he told the media.

The PDM rejected the NAB ordinance and the use of EVMs in the next general elections, saying that EVMs is the second name of the Results Transmission System (RTS).

He demanded the federal government hold immediate fresh elections in the country.

The PDM chief said rallies and protest demonstrations would be held in every district of the country and the option of a long march towards Islamabad was also under consideration, he said adding that

The complete shutter-down strike would be observed during the two-week protest movement, said Fazl, adding that PDM wants restoration of a constitutional and democratic system in the country.
