Couple injured in acid attack in Karachi
A woman and her husband sustained minor injuries after an unidentified man allegedly threw acid at them in Liaquatabad No. 5, Karachi, on Thursday, Sept.17, police said.
The incident occurred at around 8:00am when 28-year-old Areej was commuting to her office on a motorcycle with her husband, Owais, police officials said.
According to police, Areej, who works at an online taxi service office on Shahrah-e-Faisal, was targeted by a pedestrian in the inner streets of Liaquatabad. The suspect fled through the streets after throwing the acid.
Areej, a mother of three, suffered slight injuries to her shoulder, while her husband sustained minor acid splashes. Both victims are in stable condition, police said. They added that evidence has been collected from the scene, while CCTV footage from the surrounding areas is being obtained to identify the suspect.
