Inquiry body to probe Foreign Ministry’s apostille and document attestation scandal
Deputy Prime Minister has constituted a three-member inquiry committee to investigate the Foreign Ministry’s apostille and document attestation system scandal following media reports regarding the process.
Petroleum Secretary Hamid Yaqoob Sheikh will serve as the moderator of the committee, while Law Secretary Raja Naeem Akbar and Special Finance Secretary Qamar Sarwar Abbasi will be its members.
The committee will investigate any misuse or irregularities in the apostille and document attestation system, review the role of courier services and determine the potential involvement of Foreign Ministry officials. The committee will also propose necessary reforms to improve the system after evaluation.
The inquiry committee is to submit its findings and recommendations within two weeks. The Additional Secretary (Admin) of the Foreign Ministry will provide full support to the committee, including access to all relevant records and materials.
