Mango exports exceed fixed target

Chairman of the Pakistan Fruit and Vegetable Association Waheed Ahmed has said that Pakistan has exported more than 125,000 tonnes of mangoes this season, despite serious problems caused by the coronavirus pandemic, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The mango exports generated $72 million in foreign exchange.

“This year, the country has the target to export 80,000 tonnes of mangoes amid the coronavirus pandemic,” he said and added “However, thanks to the aggressive strategy of the All Pakistan Fruit and Vegetable Association and timely action by the federal government, the export target is 45,000 tonnes more than expected and another 25,000 tonnes is expected to be exported in the next one to one-and-a-half months,” Pakistan Fruit and Vegetable Association Chairman said.
