The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday directed Ana Ali, one of the suspects and also daughter of main suspect in the torture case of a woman in Faisalabad, to give proof to the court that she was the resident of the federal capital on Monday (August 22, 2022), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Acting IHC chief justice (CJ) Justice Aamer Farooq heard the protective bail application filed by Ana, daughter of main suspect Danish Ali.
Acting CJ, on the occasion, asked counsel for the petitioner about details of the case.
Ana’s counsel replied that it was the case of torture on a woman.
He added that presently she was living with her mother in Islamabad.
Justice Aamer remarked that the petitioner’s Islamabad’s address was handwritten. “But the fact is that Ana is not only residing in Faisalabad presently, but she is also a permanent resident of the city,” he said, and asked as to why people who were booked in different cases in other parts of the country came to Islamabad for seeking bails.
Speaking on the occasion, the petitioner said that she had arrived in Islamabad from abroad before August 9 and had been living in the city since then.
The chief justice asked her whether she had reached Islamabad before registration of the FIR or after. “I want to know whether you have come to the capital city only to seek bail or has been staying here prior to that,” the judge asked.
Later, the court adjourned hearing of the petition until Monday.
The incident of torture on a woman named Khadeeja in Faisalabad at the hands of a businessman and members of his family only because the former had refused the man’s marriage proposal came to light a few days ago when its video went viral on social media and drew widespread condemnation from all walks of life.
