A cop was martyred while several others were injured when terrorists targeted a police patrol van in Lakki Marwat Sunday night, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

The gunmen attacked the mobile vehicle near Syed Azam Pump within the limits of Bargi Police Station.

In the incident, policeman Nisar Ahmad, belt number FRP-9671, was martyred and three other cops injured when the terrorists sprayed the van with bullets.

The body of the martyred cop and the injured were shifted to a local hospital.

Interior Minister condemns attack

Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi has strongly condemned the attack on a police party in the jurisdiction of Bargi Police Station in Lakki Marwat. He paid rich tribute to Constable Nisar Khan, who embraced martyrdom in the attack. He also saluted his sacrifice in the line of duty.

The Interior Minister extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the martyr.

He said the officers and personnel of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police have rendered invaluable sacrifices in the fight against terrorists of Fitna Al Khawarij.

Meanwhile, in a statement, Mohsin Naqvi has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of precious lives due to rain-related incidents in various parts of the country.

He extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased.
