Karachi education board, Oman discuss cooperation on digital examination systems

Chairman Higher Secondary Education Board Karachi Faqir Muhammad Lakho met Consul General of the Sultanate of Oman Engineer Sami Abdullah Al-Khanjari to discuss cooperation in education, modern examination systems and information technology.

Lakho visited the Omani Consulate at the invitation of the consul general, where the two sides reviewed prospects for strengthening cooperation between Pakistan and Oman in the education and IT sectors.

During the meeting, the board chairman briefed the consul general on steps being taken to modernise the examination system of the Higher Secondary Education Board Karachi.

He particularly highlighted the introduction of an e-marking system, under which the traditional process of checking examination papers is being shifted towards a digital system.

Lakho said the system was aimed at making the marking, monitoring and record management of examination answer sheets more systematic and transparent, while helping improve marking quality, reduce the chances of human error and make preparation of results more efficient.

The Omani consul general assured the board of assistance and technical cooperation in the field of information technology.

The two sides also discussed possible exchanges of expertise and experience in modern IT, digital systems and the effective use of technology in examination processes.

Lakho welcomed Oman’s offer of cooperation and said the board’s digital and examination systems could be further strengthened by benefiting from modern IT facilities and international experience.

At the end of the meeting, Al-Khanjari presented a commemorative shield to Lakho. The board chairman also invited the Omani consul general to visit the Higher Secondary Education Board Karachi.
