NA speaker invites PTI leaders back to standing committees, offers to facilitate talks

National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has once again invited Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to rejoin the parliamentary standing committees and offered to play a role in facilitating talks between the opposition party and the government.

According to sources, a meeting between PTI leaders and Speaker Ayaz Sadiq was held in Islamabad, during which efforts were made to bridge differences between the two sides. Sources said the Speaker once again urged PTI to return to the standing committees, stressing that the party’s resignations from the committees had not been accepted. “You can come back,” the Speaker’s Office said, according to sources.

Ayaz Sadiq also expressed his willingness to facilitate dialogue between PTI and the government, saying that both sides should sit together to resolve their differences. Sources said the Speaker told the opposition that PTI and the government should hold talks and that he was ready to play his role in bringing the two sides to the negotiating table.

PTI, meanwhile, gave a positive indication regarding the Speaker’s proposal, according to party sources. The PTI side suggested that an alternative venue could be arranged for holding talks, sources said. The development signals renewed efforts from the National Assembly leadership to reduce political tensions and restore PTI’s participation in parliamentary proceedings and committee affairs.

Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Asad Qaiser, Salman Akram Raja, Asad Umar, Junaid Akbar Khan and Amir Dogar were present in the Speaker's chamber.
