Jason Roy and Shane Watson would make a formidable opening pair for defending champion Quetta Gladiators when they take on Islamabad United in Pakistan Super League 2020 opener on Thursday.

Gladiators captain Sarfaraz Ahmed said they were not under pressure by any team, and will try to defend their title. He added that Shane Watson and Jason Roy would be their opening batsmen.

Sarfaraz and Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan held a press conference at Karachi’s National Stadium on Wednesday.

Sarfaraz Ahmed said they have been playing great cricket for last four years and added that PSL is his central focus.

The former captain said that he has been taking fitness tips from the squash champion Jahangir Khan.

About Nasim Shah, Sarfaraz said “he is a talented player.”

Islamabad captain Shadab said that he has no added pressure of captaincy as he has played a lot of cricket among the senior players. “It would be great to play with the seniors in the PSL.”

About the foreign players, Shadab said that the foreign players know that cricket is loved in Pakistan. “We have become champion twice, and hope to lift the PSL trophy for the third time.”

About Sarfaraz’s fitness Shadab said: “Sarfaraz is super-fit, he doesn’t need much to bother about his health.”
