MQM ex-leader Muhammad Anwar passes away

February 19, 2021 03:37 PM

Former MQM leader and a close aide of Muttahida founder, Muhammad Anwar, breathed his last in London on Friday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Anwar has been under treatment at a London hospital for the last three days. He had quit MQM over its properties in London.

The MQM had sacked London-based Muhammad Anwar from the party's central coordination committee, also known as the 'Rabita Committee', in 2015. The party had cited Anwar's continued illness, which had often caused him to "remain absent from crucial meetings, for his sacking."

It is pertinent to mention here that Anwar was arrested in April 2015 by the London Metropolitan Police and was questioned for hours before being released on bail in connection to a money-laundering investigation.
