Extortionists open fire at girls’ school in Lahore
School owner allegedly targeted for refusing to pay Rs5mn extortion
Extortionists opened fire on a private girls’ high school in Islampura, Lahore, after the owner refused to pay Rs5 million extortion money, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.
According to police, the school owner, Khurram Dilawar, had previously lodged a case against unknown individuals for demanding extortion.
He alleged that despite the presence of police personnel, the attackers fired shots at the school building.
Police confirmed that the suspects fired a full burst at the school gate late at night. CCTV footage of the incident has been recovered, and efforts are underway to identify the shooters.
Both attackers were on a motorcycle and fled the scene after the attack.
