Govt’s plea seeks Rs7.91 per unit raise in basic power tariff

The federal government Tuesday filed a petition in the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) for a Rs7.91 per unit raise in the basic power tariff, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The Nepra will conduct a hearing of the petition for an increase it the power tariff tomorrow, it has been learnt.

The federal government has planned to increase the basic tariff of electricity in a phased manner.

It has been proposed in the federal government’s petition to increase the basic electricity tariff for all the distribution companies including K-Electric.

It has also been proposed to increase the basic electricity tariff by Rs3.50 per unit from July, Rs3.50 per unit from August, and 91 paisa per unit from October.

It is to be noted here that the Nepra had sent the decision of increasing the basic electricity tariff to the federal government.

The federal government has now filed a petition in Nepra for a uniform tariff.
