Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan Monday was named player of the tournament during the ninth season of the Pakistan Super League.

Shadab impressed both with the ball and bat as he scored 345 runs and took 14 wickets in the event while leading his team to the title.

Islamabad United all-rounder Imad Wasim was named Player of the Final as he picked 5/23 with the ball and played a crucial unbeaten knock of 19 runs off 17 balls.

Shadab said he was a batsman at the start of his career and wanted to utilize his abilities as a batter by batting up the order, as it helps the team more if he bats at fourth or fifth.

“I was struggling (about his bowling), I have tried to fix the technical issues and I'm hopeful there will be further improvement in my bowling. When I perform as a bowler, it benefits the team a lot. It's really tough for me to watch match; it's easier on the ground but I am under pressure in the dressing room and I keep people sitting next to me under pressure too. The sign of the best team is that they win even without playing a perfect game. I would like to thank the owners for backing me and how they supported me throughout my journey. There was a lot of hard work and belief behind winning this trophy so this trophy means a lot to us.”

Imad said he wasn't feeling it would be his best-ever tournament but wanted to make an impact but glad it went so well for him.

“I've done it on quite a few occasions in batting but to pick fifer in a final and to stay in during a crucial game, it was a new experience but I have learned from it that we should have finished the game earlier rather than taking it down the wire, glad Hunain finished it. I think I'm happy playing cricket, I'm fit and trying to contribute as much as possible, I've four years of cricket left in me.”
