Mercury drops further as Lahore receives intermittent rainfall

Intermittent rainfall continued in Lahore and its adjoining areas on Thursday, resulting in further drop in temperatures, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

While the rain was light at some places, it was heavy at others.

Light rain was reported from Anarkali, The Mall, GPO Chowk, Lukshmi Chowk and surrounding areas, while it was heavy in and around the Campus Bridge.

Showers were also reported from Jain Mandir, Mozang, Ferozepur Road, Janazgah, Multan Road and other parts of the provincial capital.

The weather department said that there were 20 per cent to 40 per cent chances of rain in the city today, while the present spell of light rain would continue for the next two days.

The department forecast dry and pleasant weather for the city during the Eidul Fitr holidays.

It said that the maximum temperature in the city would be recorded at 21 degrees Celsius, while it would remain 14 degrees Celsius to 15 degrees Celsius on the minimum side.

Breeze was blowing in the city in the morning at the speed of six kilometers per hour, while the level of moisture in the air was recorded at 65 per cent.

Rain also resulted in marked improvement in the city’s air quality as the city was ranked 10th most polluted city in the world after the air quality index was recorded at 78 on Thursday.

Islamabad to receive showers today

On the other hand, Islamabad will receive rain today.

Breeze is expected to blow in the city at the speed of four kilometers per hour, while the level of moisture in the morning stood at over 88 per cent.

Met Office predicts more rain

Met Office on Thursday forecast rain with snow over the mountains for different parts of the country for the next two days.

It said rain, with snow over the hills, was expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Buner, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Mardan, Peshawar, Swabi, Charsadda, Nowshera, Kohat, Hangu, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Karak, and Dera Ismael Khan.

On weather in Sindh, the weather department said that mostly partly cloudy weather was likely in the province.

However, it predicted rain for Karachi, Hyderabad, Dadu, Jacobabad and Naushero Feroze.
