Police arrest terrorist from Larkana bus stand
Police and an intelligence agency, in a raid on New Bus Terminal in the jurisdiction of Waleed police station, Larkana on Tuesday, foiled a plan to carry out a terror attack by arresting a man along with explosives, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The terrorist, who was identified as Asim Pathan, a resident of Peshawar, was being questioned till last reports came in.
Couple of days ago, Bannu Police claimed a major success in operations against militants after five terrorists were killed during intelligence-based operations carried out within 24 hours following the Chowki Fateh Khel incident.
According to police officials, the operations were launched on the special instructions of Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed and Regional Police Officer Sajjad Khan.
Police said one of the militants killed during the operation was Hayatullah, described as the nephew of the alleged mastermind behind the Chowki Fateh Khel attack.
Authorities claimed the slain suspect was an expert in manufacturing improvised explosive devices and had allegedly planted the bomb in a rickshaw that destroyed the security post.
Officials stated that IED-making materials, ball bearings, prima cards and ammunition were recovered from the hideout of the slain militant.
Police also described Hayatullah as a notorious target killer wanted in several serious incidents.
According to security officials, two other militants identified as Asad Yar and Naimatullah, who were involved in the attack on the security post, were also killed during the operations. Authorities added that an important militant commander named Mansoor was among those killed under what police described as an effective operational strategy.
Police claimed the slain militants were wanted in attacks targeting security forces, Counter Terrorism Department personnel, police officials and civilians in the region.
