Passengers fume as another BRT bus develops fault

November 19, 2020 01:30 PM

BRT Peshawar can’t be described as another feather in the cap for the PTI government in a positive sense given all the problems the country is facing with the mass transit project constantly in news for all the wrong reasons.

So it happened again on Thursday as 24NewsHD TV channel reported that the passengers of a bus had to walk to the nearest station after being dropped on the middle of nowhere.

Reason? The vehicle experienced some technical fault and the driver had to stop it right there on the track before reaching the University Bus Station.

However, the spokesperson for TransPeshawar – the company managing the affairs of this mass transit project – says the bus service is running without any break and there was no technical issue with the vehicle.

The said bus, says the spokesperson, was only restarted and is currently operational on its designated route and minor faults aren’t something extraordinary.

In September, the project, launched with much fanfare by Prime Minister Imran Khan on August 14, was suspended after a fourth bus caught fire. And there was no service for the next six weeks or so.
