Gilgit and Faisalabad finalised as names for two new PSL franchises

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set for a major expansion as two new teams, Gilgit and Faisalabad, have been finalised for inclusion in the league, sources told 24NewsHD on Wednesday.

According to insiders, both cities will join the PSL for the next 10 years, marking the biggest structural change in the tournament since its inception.

With this development, the names of Sialkot, Muzaffarabad, Rawalpindi, and Hyderabad have reportedly been dropped from the race.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is expected to open the bidding process for the purchase of the two new franchises in the coming days.

Sources further revealed that negotiations between the PCB and the current owners of Multan Sultans' Ali Tareen have not yet been finalised.

Due to the unresolved issues, the PCB is also planning to open bidding for the Multan franchise, allowing new potential owners to enter the race if necessary.

The formal announcement of the two new teams is expected once the bidding and ownership procedures are completed.
