Main accused Teefi Butt killed in alleged police encounter in Rahim Yar Khan: Gogi Butt remains at large after bail plea rejected
The investigation into the murder of underworld figure Ameer Balaj has been officially handed over to the Crime Control Department (CCD), 243NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to the police sources, the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing the high-profile case had declared two key suspects, Teefi Butt and Gogi Butt, guilty in its findings.
Teefi Butt, the prime suspect in the Ameer Balaj murder case and a known gangster, was killed in an alleged police encounter.
Meanwhile, his cousin and co-accused, Khawaja Aqeel, also known as Gogi Butt, remains at large and is wanted by the police.
Earlier, on October 13, a Lahore Additional and Sessions Court rejected a bail petition filed by Gogi Butt. Neither Gogi nor his lawyer appeared for the hearing, despite repeated summons by the court throughout the day.
The court had issued four separate calls for Gogi Butt’s appearance, at 8:00 am, 8:30 am, 9:00 am, and 10:00 am, but each time he failed to show up.
As a result, the court, in the presence of CTD Investigation Officer Mohammad Latif, rejected the bail plea.
In the previous hearing, the court had extended Gogi Butt’s interim bail until October 13 in connection with the same case.
Notorious gangster Teefi Butt, a first cousin of Gogi Butt, was killed in what police claim was a shootout in Rahim Yar Khan. He was reportedly being transferred fromKarachi to Lahore when the incident occurred.
It may be mentioned here that notorious Punjab gangster Teefi Butt, first cousin of Gogi Butt, was killed in an alleged police encounter in Rahimyar Khan during his transfer from Dubai to Lahore on Saturday last.
According to the Crime Control Department (CCD), a gunbattle broke out between police and Teefi Butt’s accomplices within the jurisdiction of Kot Sabzal Police Station in Rahimyar Khan.
Teefi Butt had been nominated in the murder case of his rival, Ameer Balaj, who was killed in 2024 during a wedding ceremony at a private housing society in Lahore.
