58 illegal construction sites demolished along Islamabad Expressway

Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) conducted a detailed visit to the Islamabad Expressway East Project and Sector E-12, reviewing ongoing development work and directing officials to accelerate the pace of construction, reported 24NewsHD TV.

During the visit, officials briefed the CDA chairman that action had been taken against 58 illegal and non-conforming construction units along the Islamabad Expressway East. 

According to the briefing, action was taken against 34 construction units from Sohan to Iqbal Town, while 24 units were targeted between Korang Bridge and Korang Police Station and in Gulberg Greens. The CDA said action against illegal and unauthorized constructions would continue, particularly against commercial buildings violating building bylaws or being used for non-conforming purposes. 

Officials said the removal of unauthorized constructions had helped clear obstacles to the Islamabad Expressway East Project. The chairman also directed strict compliance with fire safety requirements. The CDA said the Islamabad Expressway East Project would improve connectivity between Islamabad, Rawalpindi and adjoining areas.

During his visit to Sector E-12, the chairman reviewed ongoing work on roads, drainage systems and municipal facilities and directed officials to accelerate development activities.

Officials briefed the chairman that around 290 kanals of valuable CDA land had been retrieved from encroachments in Sector E-12. He directed that the recovered land be protected from future encroachments.

The chairman also instructed officials to ensure integrated development of roads, drainage and street infrastructure in the sector, while directing daily monitoring of development progress to ensure timely completion of projects.

The CDA said protection of land, enforcement of building regulations and quality construction remain among its key priorities.
