First bypass surgery successfully performed at Sargodha Cardiac Institute

The cardiac surgery department at Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology has started operations with the successful completion of its first bypass surgery, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.

Dr Tauqeer and his team successfully performed the bypass surgery on 60-year-old Nasir Abbas, a resident of Sillanwali, who had three blocked coronary arteries. The patient is in satisfactory condition.

According to Punjab Chief Minister’s Advisor on Health General (retd) Azhar Mahmood Kayani, the hospital is providing free, Up to date cardiac treatment, including angiography, angioplasty and bypass surgery.

He said hundreds of patients are examined daily, while angiography and angioplasty are being performed regularly.

Emergency angiography and angioplasty facilities are also available for heart attack patients.

Kayani said the hospital would provide modern cardiac facilities to more than 10 million people across the four districts of Sargodha Division, as well as Jhang, Chiniot, Mandi Bahauddin and other areas.

The hospital administration said bypass surgeries for patients currently on the waiting list would be conducted in phases to ensure timely and free treatment for more patients.
