Record increase has been noticed in the appeals being filed in Lahore’s family and guardian courts either for divorce or custody of children as poverty, inflation and joblessness have started leading to frictions between husband and wife, resulting in their separation or divorce, and ultimately impacting the lives of their children, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

According to reports, 10 to 15 such cases are being filed in these courts daily while as many as 300 children have been deprived of parental affection in the city in the last one month alone.

The situation has come to such a pass that now a session judge has ordered clubbing together of both family and guardian courts, and has even tasked the latter with listening to the divorce cases.

It has been learnt that most of the women usually cite non-payment of monthly expenses and torture by their husbands as reasons for their seeking divorce.

They say that due to limited resources and low salaries their husbands could not give them expenses which has made it extremely difficult for them to get along with them.

On the other hand, children of these divorced couples are no less worried.
