Internet, mobile services fully restored in Lahore after seven days
Internet and mobile services were fully restored in the provincial capital Lahore on Tuesday after seven days of partial shutdown due to protests by a banned outfit, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Internet and mobile signals service were suspended in several areas of Lahore for the past seven days amid the protests by the proscribed TLP.
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on April 16 maintained that in order to maintain public order and safety, access to certain social media applications was restricted temporarily.
It may be mentioned that the government prevented millions of internet and mobile users from using social media platforms for maintaining public order and safety.
Digital Rights Activist Nighat Dad tweeted, “What kind of national emergency we are dealing with that the govt banned entire social media temporarily? These arbitrary decisions of blocking and banning have never done any good instead opened ways to blanket bans.”
