Wedding dates finalised for Maryam Nawaz’s son Junaid Safdar

The wedding dates of Junaid Safdar, son of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, have been finalised, with the marriage ceremonies scheduled to take place in mid-January, according to media reports.

Reports said that Junaid Safdar’s bride-to-be is Shanzay Sheikh, the granddaughter of PML-N leader Sheikh Roheel Asghar.

The wedding events are planned for January 16, 17, and 18.

Confirming the details, Sheikh Roheel Asghar said that Maryam Nawaz, accompanied by her elder daughter and son-in-law Raheel Muneer, formally brought the marriage proposal.

“When my son informed me, I said it was wonderful news,” he said, adding that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif later invited the family for dinner to formally finalise the arrangement.

He further said that his wife was deeply impressed by the hospitality of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz.

“My wife, daughter-in-law and Maryam Nawaz sat together and finalised all wedding arrangements.

The match was settled about two months ago,” he added.

Sheikh Roheel Asghar also revealed that Maryam Nawaz’s daughter Mahnoor, shares a close friendship with his granddaughter.

He said that wedding functions would be private, with invitations extended only to close family members.

The combined mehndi ceremony will be held at Jati Umrah, where the walima will also take place.

It is pertinent to note that this will be Junaid Safdar’s second marriage. His first marriage, to the daughter of prominent businessman Saif-ur-Rehman, ended in divorce in October 2023.
