Pakistan obtained $6.89b foreign funding in 11 months of FY2024-25

The Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs released a report about foreign funding obtained by the Government of Pakistan during the first 11 months of the current fiscal year 2024-25, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

The report revealed that during the above-mentioned period, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) provided $9 billion, which also included two installments of loan worth $2 billion.

During the previous fiscal year total volume of foreign funding was stood at $7.55. In May 2025, Pakistan receives foreign funding worth $779 million.

From July 2024 to May 2025, Pakistan obtained a loan of $6.72b. During the first eleven months of current fiscal year Pakistan received grants worth $167 million.

The report did not mention the names of Saudi Arabia the United Arab Emirates and the rollover loan of China from the report.

In May 2025, Saudi Arabia’s $5 billion deposit not included in the report and China’s safe deposit funding of $4 billion is not part of the part.

Pakistan will likely to secure funding of $9 billion from Saudi Arabia and China’s $4 billion safe deposit is also not part of the report.

The federal government is likely to obtain foreign funding worth $10.39 billion during the current fiscal year.
