Prime Minister Imran Khan has accepted the offer of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari by convening a high-level meeting on the spread of coronavirus.
The PPP Chairman had earlier called upon the federal government to take extreme measures for containment of the coronavirus pandemic including lockdown of the cities.
Addressing a news conference in Karachi on Thursday, Bilawal said “The Centre should take harsh steps if it wants to fight off this disease. Go for lockdowns or isolations, do the mass testing of the suspects, spend heavily to save the economy and to save the people.”
Bilawal said that it was high time to shun all political differences and work together to counter the novel COVID-19 pandemic.
A day after the proposal, the prime minister responded positively by calling the high-level meeting.
The PM will also speak to the Sindh government high-ups through a video link in order to discuss how to tackle the growing spread of the coronavirus jointly.
